Use ShardStitch with Aider.
This Aider profile documents a file-based continuation path plus an optional local MCP server. It is aimed at repository work where a fresh Aider process can read the handoff before making another edit.
Integration paths.
.aider.context.md, plus a read: entry added to .aider.conf.yml so plain aider auto-loads the handoff.
No native MCP client in the auto registry.
Capture Aider history when available; the .aider.context.md file is a separate instruction handoff.
Setup path.
It reads git diff, changed files, recent commits, local notes, and project memory.
Keep the generated .aider.context.md in the same checkout and confirm the read entry in .aider.conf.yml points to that file. If the current process was launched without that configuration, explicitly read the handoff before continuing.
Before Aider changes code, compare its planned file list with the packet and use Aider status or Git status to confirm the expected working tree.
Limits to know.
The read-file path carries project instructions; it does not restore Aider chat history or prove that the current process loaded the file. The handoff still needs a repository check before edits.
Best use case.
Moving a messy Aider coding task into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or a clean Aider run.
FAQ.
Does Aider automatically read .aider.context.md?
Only when its read configuration or launch command includes the file. Confirm the active Aider process has loaded it; the filename alone is not an auto-load guarantee.
Resume this workflow.
Start Aider from the project root, read the handoff, then ask it to report the branch and changed files before touching code. If that report disagrees with the packet, pause and reconcile the diff first.
Verify Aider read configuration includes .aider.context.md and ask the running process to identify the pending check before changing files.

Source references and delivery boundary
Reference section reviewed September 27, 2026. Aider issue #1090 is a historical lint-loop report, not evidence that every current release loops. ShardStitch supplies project context; it does not patch Aider's lint runner.
