# ShardStitch recovery limits

Sources of truth: https://shardstitch.com/how-it-works/ and https://shardstitch.com/tools/

ShardStitch can build a continuation from evidence that survives locally: changed files, Git state, notes, available session records, and verification status. Its handoff labels disk-backed facts separately from inferred next steps so the next AI knows what to recheck.

It cannot reconstruct work that was never saved or made available locally, guarantee that an inferred claim is true, or repair a remote provider session. A target may accept a pickup file, MCP context, or only a manual paste. The scope of deeper session recovery depends on what the target exposes; check the target's detail page before describing its support as complete.
