Download the desktop app.

Check the email you used to purchase. Polar sends your license key and download link automatically.

Open the local app.

  • Windows users: double-click ShardStitch.exe.
  • Linux users: open a terminal and run ./shardstitch-linux.
  • A browser window opens at localhost:8765.
  • ShardStitch asks for your license key.

Windows security note: Windows may show "Unknown publisher" - this is normal for new apps. Click More info -> Run anyway to continue.

Paste your license key.

  • Copy the key from your purchase email.
  • Paste it into the activation screen.
  • Click Activate.
  • The dashboard opens. You're ready.

Add editor capture.

  • Search ShardStitch in Extensions.
  • Install it in VS Code or Cursor.
  • Press Alt+G to capture a session.
  • The desktop app must be running for capture to work.

Install from terminal.

Use the CLI if you prefer launching ShardStitch from npm or PyPI.

pip install shardstitch npm install -g shardstitch shardstitch install <your-key> shardstitch

<your-key> is the license key from your Polar purchase email or post-purchase screen.
