Google's Gemini CLI team says that, from June 18, 2026, Gemini CLI stopped serving requests for individual free, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra accounts. The path forward for those users is Antigravity CLI. Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise licenses and supported API-key access remain available under the conditions in Google's announcement.
What Antigravity imports automatically.
Google says the Antigravity CLI installer detects the local Gemini CLI directory and imports skills, MCP servers, and agent profiles. Antigravity also keeps compatibility with existing GEMINI.md files. That reduces setup work, but does not prove which file edits completed or which old-session claims are still true.
What still needs a handoff.
- The live working tree. Changed and untracked files may be newer than any session summary.
- The reason behind the diff. Record the goal, decisions, constraints, and rejected approaches.
- Verification state. Separate commands that ran from checks that were only proposed.
- The failure boundary. Keep the exact Gemini CLI error, last useful response, and unfinished action.
- One safe next step. Let Antigravity verify before it continues implementation.
Migration checklist.
- Freeze the current diff. Save
git status --short,git diff --stat, and the current branch. - Keep the old session available. Do not delete Gemini CLI state until the new CLI has reproduced the task context you need.
- Install Antigravity through Google's current path. Confirm the imported skills, MCP servers, agents, and
GEMINI.mdbehavior. - Start with a read-only verification. Ask Antigravity to identify changed files, the last verified check, and the next action.
- Run one bounded continuation. Grant execution only after the new agent's view matches the repository.
What ShardStitch does here.
ShardStitch combines available local Gemini CLI context with verified Git and disk state, then formats a continuation that Antigravity can consume through its compatible project-memory path. It preserves decisions and failures without treating the old model's wording as proof, and it keeps normal recovery local-first.
