AgentsRoom alternative, or recovery layer?
AgentsRoom belongs to the live orchestration category: coordinating active agents while the workflow is still running. ShardStitch is for the moment after coordination breaks down: stale context, a dead session, lost decisions, or a handoff to another coding assistant.
Related: switch AI coding tools without losing state and avoid AI coding tool lock-in.
The missing capability.
AgentsRoom can orchestrate several live agents. It does not reconstruct a dead agent's unfinished state from disk. More agents do not solve missing state; they multiply the number of agents that can inherit it.
Orchestration answers who runs next. ShardStitch answers what the next agent can safely continue.
See the base-plan orchestration workflow.
The architectural difference.
AgentsRoom's handoff asks the current agent to write a summary before switching. When that agent is rate-limited or crashed, there's nothing left to ask. ShardStitch reads the answer from disk, including git diff, dependency graph, and project memory, so it works when the session is already dead.

When to use each.
Choose AgentsRoom if
You want a dedicated workspace to run multiple agents in parallel, you like a mobile companion, and you're happy living inside one app.
Choose ShardStitch if
You want to keep using your existing tools, recover after a session dies, and give the next AI the git state, dependency risk, and current intent without rebuilding everything from memory.
Freedom is the product.
AgentsRoom gives you a dedicated workspace for live orchestration. ShardStitch is deliberately tool-agnostic: it prepares recovery handoffs you can carry into the tools you already use. Different philosophy, different layer.
